Modeling and Surfacing

Modeling is creating a 3d object or representation of an object. On the other hand, surfacing is adding color and textures to the 3d objects. Models usually begin with a primitive shape such as a cube or a sphere; modelers will begin to expand or deform the primitive shape to create the desired object and lastly, they will add in small details and fix and possible mesh problems. Modeling will come early in the production pipeline since the created models are used in other stages of the pipeline such as rigging, lighting, and animation. One challenge that was faced during the COVID pandemic was the lack of face-to-face communication but it wasn’t too big of a deal because of modern telecommunications.
